Description

Lanai has some unbelievable scenery and wild rock formations on the back side … places that very few people who live in Hawaii have ever seen … Ultimate rafting will take you there for a memorable day of snorkeling without the crowds! They zoom in and out of the nooks and crannies of the Lanai coastline, sometimes at breathtaking speeds! For thrill seekers, this is the trip for you! It also offers you the ultimate get-away adventure. They are going to snorkel at places where most other snorkel boats just don't go.

As the Captain points out sites, sit back and enjoy the views as you cruise across the 'Au'Au Channel to the island of Lanai. This island boasts many of Hawaii's best coral reefs, miles of sea cliffs, remote coastlines with sea caves and arches, blowholes, ancient Hawaiian burial sites, and King Kamehameha The Great's favorite fishing grounds. Your 2-3 snorkel sites will be Captain's Choice, which means the captain will choose the best destinations based on the day's conditions, which makes each trip unique! Keep an eye out for dolphins and humpback whales above the water, and down below swim with schools of fish, Hawaiian green sea turtles, and colorful coral.

Two different lengths of Lanai snorkel trips are offered. On Monday, Wedneday, and Friday a 4 hour snorkel trip is offered at 9:00am. And on Tuesday and Thursday a 6 hour Lanai snorkel is offered at 8:00am. The longer trip is the "ULTIMATE" Ultimate Rafting experience, which has an extra snorkel stop and typically goes further to the back side of the island of Lanai.

Kevin's Activity Tips:

Ultimate Rafting is certainly the most adventurous choice for snorkeling at Lanai ... which in my book also makes it the BEST choice. This tour isn't available all year ... during the winter months of December through March they do whale watching instead. But during MOST of the year, from April through November, this boat runs to Lanai Monday through Friday.

Lanai has some of the best coral reefs in Hawaii ... this is a good snorkel trip for people who have been to Molokini and some of the other popular snorkel sites on Maui and are looking to get away to someplace different ... and less crowded. I highly HIGHLY recommend the 6 hour trip if it is available. This longer excursion typically goes further around the back side of Lanai, and will often snorkel at a spot called "Shark Fin." No, you aren't likely to find sharks there ... they don't like to hang out places where snorkel boats go. It is called Shark Fin due to a uniquely shaped lava pinnacle island that rises out of the water and when you see it, you will instantly say "That looks like a giant shark fin!" It is one of my favorite snorkel spots in all of Hawaii because it is one of the few places you will see Pyramid Butterfly Fish, one of the more rare and exotic species we have here in Hawaii.
