Description
Join Paragon / Sail Maui on the PREMIER ocean adventure to the underwater paradise off the coast of Lanai! They operate this high-end snorkel and performance sailing trip on Alihilani, one of the newest sailing catamarans in Hawaii. The smaller sized groups and excellent crew of sailors create a truely personalized experience. Alihilani offers the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Paragon specializes in performance sailing, and enjoy the exhilarating trade wind sail as you discover the exclusive island of Lana'i! This Hawaiian island boasts one of the top 10 snorkel spots in the world, pristine reefs, and spinner dolphins that play in Manele Bay. Stunning sea cliffs, uncrowded snorkeling sites, and expansive island views make this trip a wonderful way to spend a vacation day.
You will set sail from Lahaina Harbor, the re-opening of which is an important milestone in Maui's recovery from the tragic wildfire of 2023 that ravaged downtown Lahaina. Enjoy a light breakfast on the crossing of the Au' au' channel to Lana'i. Gaze upon the islands of Maui, Moloka'i, Kaho'olawe, and Lana'i as you anticipate the adventure that awaits. Not only will the boat feel "uncrowded", so will the snorkel spots ... and avoiding the crowds is always on of the challenges of a great vacation. There is no set destination so their experienced crew can select the best locations based on conditions, and you will visit multiple snorkel sites as time and weather allow.
On the way back to Maui the crew will set the sails, look for Lana'i's famous spinner dolphins, and serve up a delicious deli lunch buffet and cocktails as you relax on board. If the conditions are right, you will stop off the coast of West Maui in deep water for a very special "blue water swim" experience. It's a perfect way to end a beautiful Hawaiian day!
Lanai is always the goal / destination for this trip, but if the captain determines that channel crossing conditions are not conducive to a pleasant trip, he or she will select alternate snorkel sites along the Maui coastline.

Duration: 5 hours
Vessel: 64 foot Gold Coast sailing yacht withcapacity limited to 40.
Tour Includes: Snorkel gear, light breakfast, deli lunch buffet, and beverages including local beer, white wine, sparkling wine, and cocktails. They can provide vegetarian or gluten free options through their catering companies, although people with severe nut allergies or who have celiac disease should be aware that they cannot guarantee there has been no cross contamination.
What to Wear: Wear swimsuits and bring a towel and sunscreen. We also recommend a light jacket.
Restrictions: They do not allow spray-on sunscreen because it has a tendency to go everywhere, including the deck. This can make maneuvering around the boat very slippery and hazardous. Also, it is generally very toxic to the ocean environment. Sail Maui are huge advocates of using reef-safe sunscreen to preserve the marine ecosystem, and they provide reef-safe sunscreen as a courtesy on both of their boats. They highly recommend using their marine friendly sunscreen, because chemicals in conventional brands wash off your skin while snorkeling and can kill coral and promote bleaching.
Reservations: Advanced reservations required and we recommend booking this a month or more before your arrival. This event is "RESERVE NOW PAY LATER"; we need a credit card on file to finalize your reservation but we do not charge you for this reservation until a few days before the beginning of your vacation!
Minimum Notice for Cancellations / Changes: At least 48 hours before the start of the event. All tours go out rain or shine. Inclement weather conditions are usually temporary and rain gear is provided. Cancellations due to weather are extremely uncommon and all parties are instructed to appear at the boat ramp no matter what the weather seems to them.

Kevin's Activity Tips:
Paragon has long been considered THE NAME in high performance sailing around the island of Maui. They don't just sail as a feature of the tour ... they will sail every chance they get. They're good at it too! Normally the best sailing conditions are on the way BACK from Lanai after snorkeling. It's a relaxing, enjoyable way to return to Maui!
Their Lanai trip is a premium one ... offering a step up in quality of food and beverages from most other snorkel tours. Dolphins are seen regularly on this tour, and the chances of seeing them are actually even greater right now ... they are not landing at Manele Harbor or spending time on the island of Lanai itself, so there is more of a chance of encountering dolphins along the way.
Aside from the uncrowded experience, remote snorkel spots, opportunities for dolphin watching, and performance sailing experience, there is one ALTRUISTIC reason to go on this tour. You will be supporting a tour operator who was greatly impacted by the tragic wildfire that devastated Laahina town on August 8, 2023. Lahaina Harbor has re-opened, which marks a significant milestone in Maui's recovery. There are currently no shops or restaurants open in downtown Lahaina, but they are in the works. The people must return first ... and that's you! We appreciate your support ... participating in this tour departing from Lahaina Harbor is helping the island's economi rebound!
