Description
Oahu Stand Up Paddleboarding combines the thrill of surfing with the techniques of paddling! Stand up paddle, or SUP, is an ancient water sport that has made a major comeback with the help of new board technology, which increases the performance and ease of riding. You will get a variety of ocean conditions in Kailua, from flat water to moderate chop and rolling waves. SUP tours will generally stick to the calmest areas in order to practice basic strokes and techniques. We offer SUP experiences with Oahu's premiere tour operator, Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks. Their shop is located in the Kailua Beach Center which serves as the staging area for their operations.
Oahu Stand Up Paddleboarding tours allows you to explore the breathtaking windward side of the island. Large waves break in the distance due to a reef miles offshore, and this offers miles of pristine bay. Hues of green and blue from the shallow waters and sandy bottom contrast beautifully with the stunning spires of the Ko'olau Mountains.
Check in is at the Kailua Sailboard and Kayak shop in Kailua town, which is on the east side of Oahu about a 45 minute drive from Honolulu. At the shop you'll receive instruction, safety briefings, get set up with your paddle board and meet your guides. There are restroom facilities, changing rooms, lockers, and showers.
All of their guides have certifications in adult and pediatric CPR, as well as first aid training. They are your informed eyes and ears out on the water, and will instruct you in paddling techniques and educate you about the ocean environment.

$193.43 per Participants (Hawaii sales tax included)
This tour includes a 2 hour stand up paddleboard lesson and 2 hours of beach time. It starts with paddling instruction and a brief intro class in their Beach Center. Next, head to Kailua Beach Park where the guide will assist you with launching your board and stand up. You will learn to turn, stop, brace yourself and paddle efficiently. The experienced guide will take you out to Popo'ia "Flat Island" and typically land here for a break and island tour. Guides provide snacks and water and help capture photos on your SUP! You may have the option to try and catch some waves if you're feeling adventurous. Due to the high vantage point while on a SUP, wildlife encounters are common so look for sea turtles and fish around the coral reef! Next you get the easy, down wind run, back to the pristine Kailua Beach where you'll finish and return to the shop to de-brief.
4 Hour Self Guided Stand Up Paddling Rate (KSK5)

Kevin's Activity Tips:
There is no more scenic place to learn how to SUP that the waters off the coast of Kailua. This area has a sandy bottom and the water is relatively shallow, which gives the water an almost glowing effect on a sunny day!
SUPing is fun ... when you are on the water. Loading and hauling a SUP around on top of your car is NOT fun. These boards are pretty heavy and a bit unwieldy, but you don't have to worry about that. These guys will get the boatd to the beach for you so you only have to worry about the "fun" part.
If you have never done SUPing before, we recommend the guided tour option. This will give you important insight into balance, paddling techniques, and how to effectively turn.
These SUP tours work best for guests who have rental cars for the drive to Kailua. If you don't have a rental car and are staying in the Waikiki area, we also offer Surfing and SUP lessons in Waikiki.
