A variety of ocean thrills are available, including parasailing, jet skiing, bumper tubing, and no-experience-necessary scuba diving. Combo packages featuring multiple events are offered, or pair one of these events with a surf lesson or the Hanauma Bay snorkeling experience. Come spend a beautiful “day on the bay!”

Single Events

A fuel surcharge of $3 per participant per event applies to these activities.

Parasailing

Flights are normally done tandem (two people going at once) but this can change at the captain’s discretion based upon winds and the body weights of participants. The safest and easiest method of launching is used; guests take off from the rear deck of the specially designed parasailing boat. At the end of the ride you are reeled back in and land gently on the back of the boat.

Schedule: Daily from 8:30am to 2:30pm every half hour

Duration: Up to 45 minutes on the boat

Options: 500′ standard line and 700′ extreme line. Observers may go along on the boat for a fee.

Reservations: When reserving parasailing as a single event, select am, midday or pm.

What to Wear & Bring: Bathing suit, sunscreen, towel.

Restrictions: Minimum weight to parasail is 60 pounds. Pregnant women cannot participate.

Jet Skiing

Located in a protected area of Maunalua Bay, guests ride a shuttle boat to the activity platform out on the ocean. This floating barge offers shaded seating, cubicles to store personal items, and a great spot to hang out and watch the action. These jet skis are state-of-the-art Yamaha 4-stroke wave runners.

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm every half hour

Duration: 30 minute ride

Options: Share or solo rider

Reservations: When reserving jet skiing as a single event, select either am, midday, or pm.

What to Bring & Wear: Bathing suits, sunscreen, towel

Restrictions: Drivers must be 16 years old or older. Pregnant women cannot participate.

Note: Observers are welcome to watch from the barge at $26.

Bumper Tubes / Banana Boats

This s a great way to have a blast with your friends as you enjoy a wet and wild ride on the bay. A speedboat will take you out into the ocean and tow you at high speeds as you bounce across the tops of the waves and the wake of the tow vessel. The Banana Boat holds up to 6 people and the bumper tube holds up to three. You’ll be put on whichever of these water toys is most appropriate for the size of your group.

Schedule: Daily from 8:30am to 2:30pm every half hour

What to Bring & Wear: Bathing suits, sunscreen, towel

Restrictions: Not recommended for people with neck or back injuries. Pregnant women cannot participate.

Scuba Diving

Maunalua Bay is known for Hawaiian green sea turtles, friendly fish, and a diverse collection of colorful marine life. Seabreeze is a PADI Resort Facility, which means they are able to offer no-experience-necessary scuba diving. The newest and safest methods are taught; the student/teacher ratio is a maximum of four-to-one.

Schedule: 1 tank dive is available 7 days a week, and 2 tank dive is available Monday through Saturday.

Duration: Each dive is 20 minutes underwater

Gear provided: All dive gear and related safety equipment is included

Restrictions: You must be in good health and complete a medical statement at check-in. Pregnant women cannot participate. You must allow 12 hours between flying and diving or diving and flying. Minimum age to dive is 12.

Activity Tips

Kevin Ditamore – Owner / Manager

The events on this page aren’t found at Waikiki. There are just too many people and just not enough room for these sorts of high-speed ocean thrills to take off.  In order to go fast and high you have to go where the crowds aren’t, which can be somewhat of a challenge on Oahu. That’s the beauty of spending a day at Maunalua Bay … it’s got all the tropical beauty and stunning ocean views without the throngs of people pouring straight out of their hotels and straight onto the beach. There’s room to play in the ocean here, and there’s certainly lots to do.

While some people do a single event like parasailing or jet skiing, most people book one of the packages – they’re a good deal and it makes sense to do more than one event while you are out here. If you do a single event by itself, the entire excursion including transportation will take about 3-3.5 hours. Since a good portion of that time is getting there and back, your best bet is to do more than one thing while you are there. Combining ANYTHING with a Hanauma Bay snorkel is a popular choice as Maunalua Bay is not only “on the way to Hanauma Bay” it’s practically right around the corner … well, more like up a long steep hill, and then around a sweeping turn in the road. The most popular package of all is to do a two item combo plus Hanauma Bay, and the most popular events in that combo are parasailing and jetskiing (as the name of this page of our website implies).

One unique feature of these adventures is the digital photo service that’s offered. Yes, it costs extra (they’ll tell you about their packages when you check in) but it basically works like this … everyone is given a digital device that identifies you when you are out on the water having fun. Photographers are constantly snapping pictures, and when you are done with your adventure, they can pull up ALL the shots they’ve taken that contain you in the image. You can review them and print the ones that you just have to take home to pass around the water cooler and “rub it in” that you just had a blast on vacation in Hawaii.

Tips for using the form at the right are in order. This page is “kinda complicated” with all the different events available as single activities, or in combination with others. There are upgrades from standard to extreme parasailing and from standard two person jet ski riding to solo jet ski riding. Some events happen seven days a week (parasailing), others on Monday through Friday (jet skiing), and Hanauma Bay is open every day except for Tuesday. So … make sure the specific events you’d like to do with your package are available on the day of the week that you order. Be sure to pick the package you’d like from the dropdown list (One event plus Surf Lessons for example). You will then need to tell us the total number of participants and observers in your party, and then you’ll need to tell us which event you want to combine with Surf Lessons. Let’s say you are going to jet ski,  then you’ll need to tell us how many people want to do the standard jet ski and how many want to do the “solo upgrade.”  Take your time with the form; if you get confused, just give us a call toll-free at 1.877.678.7333. If anything on your order is not clear, we’ll contact you PROMPTLY for clarification either via email or phone.
