Description

Join the ocean professionals at H2O Sports, Hawaii's most experienced water sports center for an adventure on beautiful Maunalua Bay, which is 20 minutes east of Waikiki and on the way to legendary Hanauma Bay. A variety of ocean thrills are available, including parasailing, jet skiing, and bumper tubing. Come spend a beautiful "day on the bay!" You can do one event, or a combo with two or three events in one day!

Transportation is not currently being offered. Guests must check in at the watersports center in Hawaii Kai 30 minutes prior to their event and drive their own rental car, or take a taxi or Uber to the location.

H20 Sports operates Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

2024 UPDATE: Sea Breeze / H20 Watersports has tweaked their event offerings and are no longer offering single "stand alone" events. All activities are done as part of a combo package ... either a 2 EVENT COMBO or 3 EVENT COMBO. The following activities are offered in the packages.

PARASAILING

Flights are normally done tandem (two people going at once) but this can change at the captain's discretion based upon winds and the body weights of participants. The safest and easiest method of launching is used; guests take off from the rear deck of the specially designed parasailing boat. At the end of the ride you are reeled back in and land gently on the back of the boat. Observers may ride along for a fee.

Duration: Flight time is about 7 minutes and the boat ride lasts about 45 minutes. The Standard parasail is a 500" line and an optional upgrade to an Extreme 700' line is available.

Restrictions: Minimum weight to parasail is 60 pounds. Pregnant women cannot participate either as a flier or an observer, nor those with neck or back injuries.

JET SKIING

Located in a protected area of Maunalua Bay, guests ride a shuttle boat to the activity platform out on the ocean. This floating barge offers shaded seating, cubicles to store personal items, and a great spot to hang out and watch the action. These jet skis are state-of-the-art Yamaha 4-stroke wave runners. Standard jet ski is a per-person rate with two people on a machine. There is a solo driver rate for those wanting to drive alone. Observers are permitted out to the barge for a fee.

Duration: 30 minute jet ski ride

Restrictions: Drivers must be 16 years of age or older. Pregnant women cannot participate either on a jet ski or or an observer, nor those with neck or back injuries.

BANANA BOAT / BUMPER TUBE

This is a great way to have a blast with your friends as you enjoy a wet and wild ride on the bay. A speedboat will take you out into the ocean and tow you at high speeds as you bounce across the tops of the waves and the wake of the tow vessel. The Banana Boat holds up to 6 people and the bumper tube holds up to three. You'll be put on whichever of these water toys is most appropriate for the size of your group.

Duration: 10-15 minutes

Restrictions: No one pregnant or with neck or back injuries may participate, either as a participant or an observer.

Kevin at Falls

Kevin's Activity Tips:

The events on this page aren't found at Waikiki. There are just too many people and just not enough room for these sorts of high-speed ocean thrills to take off. In order to go fast and high you have to go where the crowds aren't, which can be somewhat of a challenge on Oahu. That's the beauty of spending a day at Maunalua Bay ... it's got all the tropical beauty and stunning ocean views without the throngs of people pouring straight out of their hotels and straight onto the beach. There's room to play in the ocean here, and there's certainly lots to do.

In the past H2O Sports offered these events either as a single stand-alone activity, or as a combo package. The combo packages are a good deal and it makes sense to do more than one event while you are out there. Since you spend a decent chunk of time getting there and back, you might as well do more than one thing! Due to the combo popularity and to ease their scheduling, in 2024 they tour operator is no longer offering parasailing or jet skiing as a standalone event ... they are now offering two and three event combo packages only.

One unique feature of these adventures is the digital photo service that's offered. Yes, it costs extra (they'll tell you about their packages when you check in) but it basically works like this ... everyone is given a digital device that identifies you when you are out on the water having fun. Photographers are constantly snapping pictures, and when you are done with your adventure, they can pull up ALL the shots they've taken that contain you in the image. You can review them and print the ones that you just have to take home to pass around the water cooler and "rub it in" that you just had a blast on vacation in Hawaii.
