Combine two amazing tours and enjoy two private properties with stunning views! On the Waterfall Hike & East Oahu Cliffs you will visit a 200 foot waterfall and the Koolau summit at the 1,200 foot Kamehame Ridge. The tour begins with a mild to moderate 2 mile round-trip guided waterfall hike exploring the 75 acre sacred lands that is exclusive to their company. As you are surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, experience the breathtaking beauty of their towering 200 foot waterfall, peaceful streams, beautiful pools, and an ancient lo`i (rock terraces). The hike is over a dirt trail with rocks and roots, and in the rainforest, the trail can be muddy and slippery when wet. The hiking time for this part of the tour is approximately 1.5 hours.
Next, you will explore the East Oahu Cliffs! Their air-conditioned van will shuttle you to the 1,200 ft. high ridge top at Kamehame, which is part of the Ko’olau Summit Trail (KST). This 600 acre property is also exclusive to their company, and there is nowhere else in Oahu where you can get a driving tour with these spectacular panoramic views. On this clifftop perch, gaze upon Waimanalo Beach, the shades of the blue Pacific Ocean, and several offshore islands. With this rare perspective, you can capture the most amazing pictures as you can see two sides of the island from one view point. For those interested in a short hike, there is a challenging half-mile round trip guided hike along the KST. This will give you an additional birds-eye view of the windward beaches down below. The Kamehame Ridge is also known for the famous Deadman’s Catwalk along the Tom Tom Trail, and it is also great spot for whale watching (December thru May). Also on this scenic driving tour, you will also stop at the overlook for Diamond Head surf breaks, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, Halona Point Blowhole, and the famous Sandy Beach Park (there are public restrooms available here).
This combination tour is perfect for guests who want something unique and that will not be overcrowded by other tour companies and the general public. Further down on the page, East Oahu Cliff Explorer, is the same tour without the waterfall hike if you’re interested in a shorter experience with less hiking.

One of the most famous (or should I say “infamous”) hikes on Oahu led to a place known as “Dead Man’s Catwalk”, a concrete patch that led to the edge of a precipitous cliff with an incredible view down onto Waimanalo and out to the blue-green waters of the Pacific. The real name of the area is Kamehame Ridge, and the problem with this hike is that it was never legal. The land is private property; there was a real problem with vandalism of some antennas in the area, there was the constant threat of liability for the landowner, and people were taking all sorts of risky selfies at the catwalk (a quick Google search will yield some spectacularly stupid people doing ridiculously dangerous things). This place became wildly popular on social media and the problem just got worse. Eventually, the landowner was forced to crack down, gate the area, hire a guard, and rip out the patch of concrete that was encouraging the risky behavior.
Thanks to an agreement between the land owner and a reputable tour company on Oahu, this spectacular area is now open to the public legally for those who participate in the East Oahu Clifftop Explorer tour! The catwalk has been removed, but the view are still the same! By partnering with this tour company, the landowner now has their liability concerns addressed, guests are supervised so there is no more vandalism, and everyone who really wants to see this area has the opportunity!
The tour opens up this view even to those who aren’t up for the 40 minutes of uphill hiking that was once required as the tour van is able to go all the way to the viewpoint. For those who want to stretch their legs you can scramble around on the ridge, and if you really want a work-out combine the East Oahu Cliffs tours with the private Waterfall Hike for a very fulfilling and semi-physically demanding day.
