For
true trade wind sailing on Kauai join the crew of Holoholo Charters aboard "Leila", a beautiful 48'sailing catamaran. When the
winds permit, they sail while having breakfast on the way to the Na
Pali Coast. As they head toward your destination the crew will be
entertaining your imagination with stories of the Hawaiians who once
lived in this beautiful area. Considered to be "The Jewel of
Kauai" with 3,000 foot cliffs, green valleys, hidden beaches,
secluded waterfalls and breathtaking beauty, the Na Pali coast is a
sight to be enjoyed from sea level. Your tour will include a
continental breakfast, gourmet deli style buffet lunch, soft drinks,
beer, wine and snorkel gear. Check in is at their store in
Port Allen. Check in time changes seasonally; summertime is around
6am and wintertime is around 8am. Your email confirmation will give
your exact check in time.
For
those who are more interested in the scenery of the Na Pali coast
than snorkeling, the sunset motor tour is the perfect for you!
Sightsee the Napali and experience a Kauai sunset on the water on
board Holoholo’s 65' power catamaran. The late afternoon and early
evening sun frequently cast a dramatic light upon the majestic
cliffs and pinnacles of the Na Pali. On board you will enjoy a
scrumptious light meal, soft drinks, beer, wine and champagne at
sunset. Check in is at 2:30pm for this tour.
Don't
forget about Holoholo's signature trip to the Na Pali and
Niihau ... that tour has a page all its own. Check it out by
clicking HERE.
A
credit card number is required to guarantee a reservation with Holoholo
Charters, but they do not charge you in advance. A 25% deposit is charged on your credit card 5 days before you come to Hawaii, and the balance is paid at checkin for your tour..
Holoholo
Charters does not allow pregnant women or people with neck or back
injuries on any of their tours!

CRUISE
SHIP PASSENGERS |
The
Sunset Motor Tour
is
available for cruise ship passengers who are on one of the NCL ships
that overnight in Nawiliwili. You can do the sunset tour on day 1; You will need a
rental
car
since the check-in
location is about 30 minutes from the
cruise ship dock.
The Morning
Snorkel Tour doesn't work for cruise ship passengers. The
departure on day 1 is too early and the return time on day 2 is too
late. We recommend doing
a snorkel
tour on Maui or Kona instead. See Molokini
Snorkel Tours from Maui
and Kona
Snorkel Tours on the Hula Kai
for more information.
ACTIVITY
TIPS
The Na Pali coastline
is truly breathtaking ... because of the scenic beauty and wide open
ocean exposure, these trips are often better for sightseeing than
for snorkeling. This is especially true during winter when this area
gets big swells. Sailing catamarans have a wonder feel to them ... and Holoholo's
"Leila" is likely to sail at least part of the trip.
There is nothing like the silence of cutting through the water
without the roar of a diesel engine! Lying on the trampoline at the
front of the boat you'll find yourself saying "Job? What
job???"
The afternoon trip on
the Holoholo powered catamaran has one advantage over the
sailing catamarans though ... because this boat doesn't have a mast,
it is possible for them to actually pull this large boat inside of
some of the sea caves. When I was out with Holoholo, the
captain skillfully maneuvered us into one of these caves. As we
approached the opening I said to myself, "There is no way this
boat is going to fit in there." Two minutes later the sky
disappeared and my eyes adjusted to the dim lighting of one of Na
Pali's mysterious sea caves. This is possible in summer months, but
only infrequently during lulls in the winter swells.
If you are going
staying on Kauai for your entire vacation, I'd do one of these
morning trips ... or maybe the Holoholo supertour to Niihau (which
has the best snorkeling of all the Kauai trips). If you are going to
spend some time on Maui or the Big Island I'd do an afternoon
sighting tour of the Na Pali while on Kauai, and then do a nice morning snorkel trip on
either the Pride
of Maui (a
Molokini / Turtle Town trip) or the Fairwind (a wonderful snorkel
trip that sails from Kona on the Big Island).
The
NaPali coast and snorkeling is "conditions permitting" ...
while the tours normally go to the NaPali, the captain will select
the tour destinations with the comfort and safety of passengers in
mind.
