Kauai Combination Tours
Jungle Valley Adventure at Princeville Ranch
4.5 Hour tour: $145 per person; $89 per child ages 5-11
This is a great combo tour including kayaking, hiking, zipping, and hanging out a waterfall swimming hole. The tour begins with a leisurely paddle up a very narrow jungle stream. When it isn't possible to kayak any further, a hike of a half mile or so leads to a waterfall where two ziplines await. These ziplines go directly over the waterfall swimming hole, and after the zipping experience, you'll descend to this waterfall for swimming and a picnic lunch. Finally, you'll return back down the river by kayak to conclude the tour.
The unique thing about this tour is that the zipping portion is optional; members of your party who do not wish to zip can just watch and take pictures. This is a great tour option for families with kids since anyone who weighs over 65 pounds is allowed to do these two ziplines. It's also a great choice for people who want to try ziplining but aren't sure that they want to do a whole course.
For clients who want to do BOTH the Princeville Ranch Zip and Dip and the Jungle Valley Adventure, we suggest scheduling the Jungle Valley Adventure near the beginning of your vacation and the Zip and Dip in the middle or end of your vacation. This gives you the chance for your first two ziplines to build up to the longer day of ziplining. Both tours should be scheduled well in advance of your arrival in Hawaii.
This
tour operates 7 days a week during peak season (summer, holiday weeks, spring break). Closed on Sundays during the rest of the year. Tour times are 8:30am and 12:30pm.
Minimum age for this tour is 5. Minimum weight 65 pounds. Maximum weight 280 pounds. No neck or back injuries or pregnant women. Zipping on this tour is included in the price, but it is optional. The price is the same for participants whether or not they do the ziplines. The hike does not have significant elevation gain but does involve several stream crossings and is on uneven terrain; overall this tour is moderately strenuous and participants should be in overall good health.
Princeville Ranch offers make-your-own deli sandwiches. Please let us know if you have any vegetarians in your party when making a reservation using the form at right.
When
you reserve the Princeville Ranch Jungle Valley Adventure on
our website your reservation will be guaranteed on your credit card.
For most parties a 20% deposit will be charged just a few days before you leave home
for Hawaii. The balance is paid when you check in for your tour. FOR
PARTIES OF 6 or MORE the 20% deposit and the 80% balance are charged
when your reservation is made. NOTE: This tour operator only accepts VISA and MASTERCARD.

Kipu
Safari by Outfitters Kauai
7 Hour tour: Adults $182; Children 3-14 $142
Kipu Falls Safari is
a combination adventure that offers it all ... participants will be kayaking, hiking,
zipping, swimming, riding in a covered wagon, and finally being
taken back to the starting point by motorized Hawaiian canoe. The
day begins with an upstream paddle ... sounds hard, but on this
jungle river the trip upstream is easier. There is very little
current and the wind is typically at your back. Next you'll cross the
ranch in a covered wagon and witness movie locations that were used in filming "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Jurassic Park." Following a break fora picnic lunch, you'll be equipped with your harness and enjoy three different zipline experiences. First is a scenic 800' line that towers over the trees below. You'll traverse over a suspension bridge and through a tunnel to reach the second zipline ... , a monstrous 1800' line that is the longest on Kauai. Finally you'll come to the short but fun "water zip" where you let go and fall into the "Blue Pool" swimming hole. The water zip can be done multiple times. Finally, a motorized canoe will return you to your
starting point. Check in for this tour is either at the Outfitters
Kauai shop in Poipu (south side guests) or their kayak shop at
Nawiliwili Harbor (central and north shore guests). Younger children
may participate in the Safari, but must be 7 years old in order to zip. Those who are too young to zip must be accompanied by an adult for the shuttle ride to the other side of the ziplines. Minimum age for kayaking and other
activities is 3.
Minimum age to zip is 7. Maximum weight 275 pounds. No neck or back injuries or pregnant women. Observers who do not plan to zip may go along but the price is the same for everyone who attends the tour ... whether or not they do the ziplines. Younger children who meet the
minimum age of 7 must also fit in the harness. They do have
harnesses designed for the size of an average 7 year old, but there
is a possibility that a child who is very small for their age may
not be able to zip. The ultimate decision on small children will be
made by the guide on the tour.

CRUISE
SHIP PASSENGERS |
These combination tours are available for
cruise ship passengers. The Princeville Ranch Jungle Valley Adventure is available for the
afternoon of day one in port. It is on the north shore of Kauai and
you definitely need a rental
car (the drive is
about an hour). It is a beautiful drive and the tour is well worth
the effort. This option works for NCL passengers who are overnighting in Kauai. Other cruise ships that leave at 6pm won't work with this tour.
Kipu Ranch Safari can also be
done as the check in location is a short walk from the pier.
ACTIVITY
TIPS
Just a few years ago no
one ever heard of zipping ... now it is the hottest activity on
Kauai! These combination tours offer an activity that includes a little bit of zipping and are designed for people who want to try it once or twice but aren't quite sure if they are up to an 8 zipline course. Kayaking, hiking, and zipping make a good combination. Our guess is most people who do these tours will wish they had signed up for a longer zipline course too. Zip once and you'll want to do it again and again.
If you plan to sign up for a combination tour AND a full zipline course for the same vacation, we suggest doing the combination tour first. This will allow the zipping to "build up" to your longer adventure.
The Jungle Valley Adventure includes kayaking up a very narrow jungle stream. The two ziplines included with this tour are different than the ones on their larger zipline course.
Kipu
is the best choice for families with younger kids. Generally the minimum age to zip on this tour is 7. Children must also fit safely in the
harness. Occasionally a child who is small for their age may be old
enough to zip, but the guide determines that they aren't large
enough. The decision on whether a child is big enough is a safety
issue and is up to the guide's discretion. Even if a determination
is made that a child is too small, there is plenty to do on this
tour ... they will still be able to enjoy the waterfall swim and
may be able to do the "water zip."
The Jungle Valley Adventure at Princeville Ranch works well for younger kids too! Minimum weight to zip on this tour is 65 pounds. And the beauty of both of these tours is that anyone who is too little to zip or just decides they don't want to zip can sit out that part of the adventure and just watch.
