Kauai Downhill Bike Tour - Waimea Canyon

Sunrise Tour (6:00am checkin) or Sunset Tour (2:30pm checkin) Adults: $104; Children 12-14 $84

Minimum age is 12 and maximum rider weight is 275 pounds.

The sunrise tour is typically held 4 days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The sunset tour is typically held 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS

The Waimea Canyon Bike Tour is available for cruise ship passengers who are on one of the NCL ships that overnight in Nawiliwili. You can do the sunset tour on day 1 or the sunrise tour on day 2. You will need a rental car since the check-in location  is about 30 minutes from the harbor.  We recommend doing a bike tour on Maui instead since it is a much longer ride and cruise ship pick-up is included ... see the Sunrise or Day Bike Tour on Maui

ACTIVITY TIPS

Waimea Canyon is known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and when you stand at the overlook you'll see why. The canyon's colors are brought out by early morning and late afternoon light, when the sun's rays have farther to travel through the atmosphere and pick up color from dust in the air. Sunrise time is best as it is typically clearer in the morning. If you aren't an early riser, then go for the sunset tour ... just keep in mind that it might be cloudier in the afternoon.

This tour is led by a guide on a bicycle, and your group of bikers is followed by the van that took you up the mountain. This van keeps cars from passing you while you are doing the ride, and provides a huge measure of safety for riders. You have the entire downhill lane to yourself ... you don't have to worry about looking over your shoulder to see if a car is coming. Occasionally the guide will pull the entire group over for a photo stop and let the traffic pass.

You want to dress in layers for this ride; it is cool at the top and warms up as you come downhill. Any extra clothing will go in the van that is following you down the mountain. Closed-toed shoes are required.

This bike ride is patterned after the famous downhill bike tour on the island of Maui ... where you can tour the summit of Maui's 10,000 foot Haleakala, then bike down from the 6700 foot level all the way to the ocean (a 23 mile ride). Kauai Downhill Bike Tour Reservations

Upon submitting your activity reservation for processing, we will make reservations for you and send an e-mail confirming all of the details. These confirmations are often sent a few minutes after your reservation, but some activities take longer to confirm than others. You will receive an e-mail confirmation by the end of the next business day at the latest. There are no tickets that you need to pick up prior to your event. Your e-mail confirmation will have all the details you need to check in and enjoy your selected activity. This saves you precious time when you arrive in Hawaii. 

Please be sure that you have typed your email address perfectly; an incorrect address will prevent you from getting your confirmation details, and we will have no way of knowing that you never received your confirmation. We cannot be responsible for errors that clients make which causes them to miss their tour. If you do not see your email confirmation within 24 hours please call us right away to check on the status of your order.

A credit card is required to guarantee payment for your reservations, but the activities on this page ARE NOT CHARGED when your order is placed. These activities are operated by vendors who charge you at the time of check-in for your activity. Adventureinhawaii.com will provide this vendor with your billing information so that your space is reserved. Even though your credit card is not charged in advance, it is import to realize that you are making a confirmed reservation. No-shows will be charged in full by the activity provider on the credit card used to secure the reservation .

After making reservations, you may reschedule or cancel your activity up until 48 hours prior to its start (a few activities have 72 hour cancellation policies ... see your confirmation e-mail for details). Within 48 hours of the start of your activity all reservations are final and non-refundable (unless the event is cancelled by the vendor due to weather or other factors ... in which case you are refunded in full). Due to our incredible climate here, weather cancellations are rare.  No-shows and cancellations without adequate notice are charged in full on the credit card used to secure the reservation and are non-refundable.
