Due to the location and nature of the ongoing eruption that started on May 4, 2018, the Epic Island Volcano Journey has an alternative itinerary.  It is an epic day of discovery as you wander off- the-beaten path and experience the island’s most awe inspiring sites. This full day is led by an expert Interpretive Guide, who will blend history and culture, with Hawaii’s nature as your backdrop.   It will change the way you see the island of Hawaii.

At the historic Greenwell Farms you will learn all about growing and milling Kona Coffee.  Enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast with Kona coffee samples!  Next, delve into a private cave system and learn how lava tubes are formed.
Don’t forget to search for Hawaiian Green sea turtles as you stroll the fine crystal black sands of Punaluu.

They now have private access to Kapapala Ranch, which is a historic working cattle ranch founded in the 1860′s which was handed down from King Kamehameha IV. Kapapala Ranch is 34,000 acres and is primarily a cattle ranch with goats and sheep as well.  Their exclusive access allows you to take a short hike up to witness views of Halemaumau Crater. The property borders Hawaii Volcano National Park and you will have the opportunity to travel thru some historic & unique lava flows (couple of 100′s years old) before reaching the corral that rests right next to where Maunaloa and Kilauea meet.  After a short walk thru the corral and up the side of the mountain (Maunaloa) you are rewarded with views of Halemaumau.  After visting the ranch, stroll through a native Hawaiian Rainforest at the Volcano Art Center.  Here you can see locally made art, and learn about the latest eruption information.  Next, explore a 1,000 acre tropical fruit farm and see Rainbow Falls from a private viewing deck.  This Epic Island Volcano Journey transports you through the many landscapes of the Big Island.
